First Missionary Baptist Church of Bellflower seeks to be a place where people can come to Believe in Christ and Belong to our family of believers, so that we will Become growing disciples of Christ. In an effort to provide continuing opportunities for growth and connectedness, for members, guests, and visitors alike, FMBC takes an intentional approach to ministry. ...Our ministries represent a framework, which guides believers...
Our goal is for believers to think and act like Christians in every aspect of their lives. Our ministries represent a framework, which guides believers through a process of developing Christian character, at the same time building and affirming relationships between believers, which contagiously attracts unbelievers.
Each component of our overall ministry from the services, to the classes offered, to the small groups which meet in homes are designed as part of an overall plan to intentionally disciple our congregation, while providing the forum to reach our neighborhoods for Christ.
- SUNDAY MORNING

- SUNDAY SCHOOL or SUNDAY SEMINARY
- Intensive, intentional, interpersonal discipleship, aimed at equipping believers with the type of education from God’s word that they would receive in seminaries today. Many of the same textbooks and workbooks are used, and recommended for further studies, that are assigned in leading seminaries today.
- CHILDREN:
Sunday school material focuses on the glory of God and revealing His character, as it seeks to bring children to awareness of their need for saving faith.
- TEENS:
A format similar to adults, with 12 week classes. Topics to include: basic beliefs, Christian living, and other relevant topics.
- ADULTS: 12 week classes
Foundation Courses (Basics/ Beginners Track)
- The Basics track grounds us in the foundational disciplines of the Christian life.
Intermediate Courses (Doctrinal/ Historical Track)
- Bible Overview seeking to improve our understanding of Scripture. History and Theology, exposing us to the history and doctrine both of our church and of Christianity throughout the ages.
Elective Courses (Christian Life/ Practical Living Track)
- Relevant books on Christian living that seek to apply God’s wisdom to our relationships.
- The Christian Life/ Practical Living track trains us in how to engage the world with the good news of Jesus Christ.
- SUNDAY NIGHT
- Intergenerational Bible-Study at FMBC
- In an effort to have believers of all ages worshiping and learning together, 1st grade and up will be studying through Systematic theology, using Wayne Grudem’s book as a guide.
- The lessons and activities are designed to hold the interest of all ages.
- Providing an opportunity to worship with all ages together allows children to see the delight adults take in worshiping God in His house. Parents should reinforce this attitude of joy, sharing an excitement with their kids that they are going to worship together in the house of the Lord.
- "Moments with Mom" meets in the Tiny Tot room for an exciting lesson geared to children up to 5 years of age.
- Family devotional books, reinforcing weekly lessons, with daily five minute devotions for the family; these are available for a small cost.
- These devotion books give families the opportunity to engage in directed spiritual discussion in the home through the course of the week.
- SMALL GROUPS
- Intentional relationship building and discipleship time, aimed at providing non threatening forums to invite friends and acquaintances to get connected and hear the word of God.
- These informal times, are more conducive to relationship building. In homes, over meals; walls break down and people become connected in previously un-achievable ways. Through these relationships people will be drawn further into FMBC’s ministries, as they seek to be discipled.
- In addition to small groups which meet at the church, other small groups meet at various homes throughout the week as well.
